Pathways Academy are very excited to announce that they have been accepted to compete in the ‘Grow Green Planter’ Competition at the Chatsworth Flower Show.
The Flower show is organised and run through the Royal Horticultural Society and will take place in Chatsworth from Wednesday 6th June to Sunday 10th June.
A group of 9 Pathways students from the Forest Schools Nurture Group, the ‘Pathways Planters’, will attend the flower show on Friday 8th June, to showcase their competition entry. Students have been working hard for a number of weeks, with the help of Forest Schools Lead, Mr Foggatt, researching home grown and healthy food. They have been growing radishes, green beans, strawberries, cabbage and salad leaves, as well as a number of herbs to add a sensory factor with some amazing smells and tastes. The students have been very innovative and have decided to grow these in recycled materials that have been rescued from a skip in the local area.
The students who are attending will be given 4 hours of free workshops around nature and the outdoors at Chatsworth house, which the students are very excited for! They will also receive a certificate for attending the event and have a chance of winning a prize of £200 gardening vouchers, which will be invested in the school’s forest school area.
If you would like to come and show these amazing students your support, they will be attending the Chatsworth Flower Show on Friday 8th June 10am – 2pm. Tickets can be purchased from www.rhs.org.uk or 0844 338 7505.
