Through the teaching of Spiritual, Moral, Social, cultural development we aim to develop pupils’ ability to reflect about their feelings and beliefs, to show respect and tolerance towards other people’s beliefs and ideas and to know how to be safe and to develop an understanding of what healthy relationships are.
Children will learn about different people and cultures in the world, in modern Britain, in the local area and in the school; to respect them and to learn from them. They will recognise and value the things we share in common across
cultural, religious, ethnic and socio-economic areas.
The programme of study builds pupils’ understanding of diversity, an understanding of how to build healthy relationships and self- efficacy. In addition, this programme will broaden their understanding of their own responsibilities and the consequences of their actions as part of a democratic society.
